Abstract
Sociological criticism as one of the approaches of literary criticism, due to its inherent characteristics, is linked with literature on one hand, and sociology on the other. Among the sociologists in literature, Lucien Goldmann was the one who introduced a new theory called “Genetic Structuralism”, using György Lukác’s teachings; a theory which focuses on the content while it is not ignorant of the form.
One of the important incidents after the Islamic Revolution in Iran, is the imposed war with Iraq. By the advent of war, many social, economic and cultural structures of the Iranian society changed. For instance, one of the changes in the literary field was the emergence of a new novel genre called “war novel”. Considering the fact that these works have been less studied sociologically, in the present study, among the many published works on the notion of war, we will analyze the novel “Another Storm is on the Way” written by Seyyed Mehdi Shojaee. This sociological analysis is intended to find how the war is reflected in the novel. According to the data, the result showed that Seyyed Mehdi Shojaee, due to his special world view and social origin, emphasizes the positive functions of the war. |
